Jason Scagell - Head of Assets and Trading

Jason joined Bord Gáis Energy at the beginning of 2008 and is Head of Assets and Trading. Bord Gáis Energy Trading secures competitive power and gas for Bord Gáis Energy customers in some of the world's most dynamic markets, and optimises the market position of its portfolio of thermal and wind power plants.

Jason joined Bord Gáis Energy from E.ON, one of the world's largest investor owned power and gas companies, where he held a number of senior roles including UK Renewables Director and Retail Sales Director. During his time with E.ON, Jason was involved in developing the Scroby Sands offshore wind farm and the UK's then largest biomass plant at Lockerbie. Earlier in his PowerGen career, Jason also led the £500m+ renegotiation of the Hamilton Gas Contract and headed up the Gas Trading business.

Jason has 20 years energy industry experience, a degree from the Bristol Business School and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at the Wharton School Pennsylvania.

Michael S. Kelleher - Energy Trading Analyst

Michael joined Bord Gáis Energy in August 2007. He provides in-depth analysis of the oil, natural gas, carbon emission and broader energy markets, enabling intelligent and reasoned trading decisions. He also produces further analysis of the equity, credit, foreign exchange and other markets that impact directly on the energy sector as well as issues such as climate change and geopolitical tensions.

Michael provides additional services to Bord Gáis Energy customers including advice on and execution of orders and updating of customers on all relevant news and information in relation to gas, oil and other markets.

Previously Michael worked as a Financial Derivatives Services Provider for FFD Trading/FC Stone Group and Operations Supervisor & Market Maker at Intrade/Tradesports. He also spent four years working on Wall Street as an Equity and Options Trader at Wall Street Access.

John Heffernan – Power Trader

John Heffernan joined Bord Gáis Energy in October 2007. As a Power trader, John played a key role in Bord Gáis Energy's entry into the electricity market. Working on the Power Desk, he has a significant role within the business which stretches from the origination of power in the commodity markets to the successful provision of competitively priced power to the final end user. To successfully deliver and protect value for Bord Gáis Energy, John must deliver successful hedging strategies, have a deep understanding of commodity and other markets, optimise trading opportunities when they arise and manage risks.

To support Bord Gáis Energy's customers in making informed energy procurement decisions, John provides customers with economic assessments, updates on price movements and market developments, and helps develop products that deliver value to customers.

Before joining Bord Gáis Energy, John worked in the Central Bank of Ireland for 8 years. As a Senior Investment Dealer in the Bank's Financial Markets Department he help manage over €12billion. He is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and is a graduate of UCC.
