What tariffs are being impacted by the Price Change?

The price increases being implemented on 1st June 2011 affect business customers on the following tariffs:

  • General Purpose
  • General Purpose Night Saver
  • Night Storage
  • Low Voltage Maximum Demand

Customers on the fixed price 'Control Product' are not subject to a price increase. Customers on residential tariffs are not subject to a price increase.

When is the price increase effective from?

The price increase is effective from Wednesday 1st June 2011.

How much is the increase in business electricity prices?

The increase is 9% on elements of certain tariffs. Some elements of these tariffs are not changing and the fixed price 'Control Product' is not subject to a change.

What elements of the tariff are subject to an increase?

The unit rates and standing charges are subject to an increase.

What elements of the tariff are not subject to an increase?

The Public Service Obligation (PSO) Levy and the following tariff elements are not subject to an increase:

  • Night storage standing charge
  • Low power factor surcharge
  • LVMD excess capacity charge
  • LVMD maximum demand charge
  • LVMD night unit rate
Will customers still get discounts?

Our current offer to new or renewing electricity customers is to fix their energy costs and as such a discount is not applicable to this type of tariff. Where a customer was entitled to a discount, these discounts have been honoured.

Can customers change suppliers if they don't like the price rises?

Customers who have not entered into a term contract are free to switch supplier.

Is there a change to Ts&Cs?

No, this is not a change in the Terms and Conditions, this is a price change in accordance with normal business practices and in line with the published Terms and Conditions of the products it is applicable to.

I can't afford to pay increased prices for my electricity. What are my options?

You have the following options:

  • Avail of our fixed price Control Product for certainty on the energy portion of your invoice.
  • Review and reduce your consumption by taking energy saving measures.
  • Seek an alternative supply if lower prices are available.
