Who are Bord Gáis Energy?

Bord Gais Energy was formed in 1976 and is the retail and procurement arm of Bord Gais Eireann. We are a wholly Irish owned semi state company and our origins are in the sourcing and supply of natural gas. During this period we have gained an unrivalled knowledge of energy markets and pricing mechanisms. The liberalisation of the market in Ireland has given us the opportunity to broaden our energy interests. In 2001 Bord Gais Energy entered the electricity market and we are now Ireland's fastest growing energy company supplying natural gas and electricity to over 900,000 customers.

At Bord Gais Energy we have set up a distinct trading unit with international energy trading expertise which allows us to source our energy at competitive prices and pass on the benefits on to our business customers.
