I have central heating already but use another fuel. Why should I consider changing to natural gas?

No other fuel can offer you the range of benefits in using natural gas, e.g.

  • Clean - more environmentally friendly than other fossil fuels.
  • Convenient - always on tap.
  • Controllable - time and temperature controls.
  • Constant - never runs out.
  • Cost-effective - bi-monthly billing and currently cheaper than alternative heating fuels.
My boiler is not working, what should I do?

Before calling please check the following troubleshooting tips:

No heat or insufficient heat?

  • Is the electricity supply to the system switched on? Check the fuse on the system isolator. If you change it, use a 3-amp fuse only.
  • Does the clock show the right time?
  • If it has a selector switch, have you selected 'heating'?
  • If you have a room thermostat, is it set to the room temperature you require? When a room reaches the temperature set on the thermostat the radiators will cool.
  • If you have thermostatic valves, are they at the settings you require?
  • Is the natural gas turned on?
  • If your boiler has a natural gas light, is it lit? Always relight in accordance with the instructions on the boiler.
  • Is the thermostat on the setting you require?
  • If the radiator is hot at the bottom only, you may need to 'bleed' it.

No hot water?

  • Is the electricity supply to the system switched on? Check the fuse on the system isolator. If you change it, use a 3-amp fuse only.
  • Does the clock show the right time?
  • Has the clock been on long enough for the boiler to heat the water?
  • If you run water while the clock is in an 'off' period the hot water isn’t replaced.
  • If you have a cylinder thermostat/thermostatic valve, is it set at the temperature you require?
  • Is the natural gas turned on?
  • If your boiler has a natural gas light, is it lit? Always relight in accordance with the instructions on the boiler.
  • Is the boiler thermostat on the setting you require?
