What does this process involve?

The engineer will drain your system and connect the power flushing machine. The boiler, pipes and radiators are then flushed with a cleaning chemical. He/she will add a corrosion inhibitor to prevent corrosion occurring.

Do I need to have the system ready before power flushing?

The heating should be on for about an hour before the technical visit to determine if power flushing is required.

Existing systems need power flushing if:

  • The heating system is slow to warm up
  • Cold spots occur in the middle of the radiators due to build up of sludge in the heat exchanger
  • Unpleasant boiler noises due to build up of sludge in the heat exchanger
  • Repeated pump failure
  • Radiators need frequent bleeding
  • Leaking radiators from pin holing in the radiator body

It is prudent to power flush a heating system immediately before fitting a new boiler to an existing system to prevent possible future problems. Many systems are found to contain corrosion and sludge, even if no flow problems have yet shown themselves. Boiler manufacturers now state, that your new system must be Power Flushed before a new boiler can be installed, as failure to do so, will invalidate the Warranty.

How long does the process take?

The process can take anywhere from 4 to 6 hours.

What is the cost?

The cost of power flushing is €599 including VAT. Once the customer decides to proceed with power flushing after a technical visit is completed, a 10% to 20% prepayment is taken. The customer phones in to give this prepayment. There are two options for the remaining payment. The customer can pay the whole amount straight away or pay the remainder over a period of 12 months.

Will it involve any disruption to my home?

Generally disruption is kept to a minimum. The technical visit will determine the extent of the disruption if any.

What if I don't avail of it after being advised of its necessity?

The system will continue to deteriorate, efficiency will decrease and pin-holing I your system may occur.

Will it damage my system if it is an old system?

The technical site survey will determine this and we will issue recommendations based on our analysis.

How will I be billed for powerflushing?

It will be billed through your home servicing bill which is separate from your gas/electricity bill.

Will there be a difference in the efficiency of the system after power flushing occurs?

Your boiler and central heating system will run more efficiently following a power flush.

How many visits does this take?

Usually 2 visits, the technical visit and the installation appointment.

Describe what efficiencies a customer will see following job completion

A successful power flush will lead to greater thermal efficiency due to the presence of less sludge in the system.

What are the signs that there could be something wrong with my system following job completion
  • Leaks
  • Cold Spots on radiators/lack of heat
