Level Pay from Bord Gáis Energy allows you to pay the same amount every month for your gas. You agree a monthly amount based on your previous year's gas consumption and pay through your Direct Debit. It's that simple.

How do I sign up for Level Pay?
Make sure you have all of the following and we will take care of the rest:

  • A Direct Debit is already set up
  • No outstanding arrears in your account

No, there is no additional charge for choosing Gas Level Pay is available to everyone on the standard tariff, Just make sure you are signed up to Direct Debit to activate it.

Can I choose my monthly payment date?

Yes. Whether its payday or some other time, you choose your monthly payment date that suits you.

Will my monthly payment amount ever change?

We won't change the payment amount for small differences in your annual gas bill. But if your usage or the price rises or drops significantly, we'll increase or decrease your monthly payment amount accordingly, so no big amounts are owed or owing at any time.

Will I still be sent a bill and if so how often?

Yes, you will still receive a bill as normal every two months. We will continue to send you your bill, so that you can see how much gas you have used, what it costs, the balance on your account and what your next payments are.

Will I pay the same as last year?

Your monthly payment amount is based on your most recent consumption, your previous year's consumption and energy prices. An initial tolerance (typically 20%) is added for variations in your usage. This allowance is made to ensure you do not get into debt and your bills are always covered so no lump sum is required to be paid by you. If the calculated monthly payment varies by €20 we will adjust your monthly payment amount. We carry out reconciliation once per year. If you are in credit by more than €200 then you can claim a refund. If the amount is smaller than this then we will carry the amount forward to reduce your monthly payments for the next year. You don't pay anything extra for your gas by using this payment method.

What happens if there is a balance owed or owing at the end of the year?

If there is a balance of less than €200 owed by you or owing to you, this amount will be carried over into the next year and used to adjust the monthly payment amount for the next year.

What happens if there is no previous years consumption figure ?

In the unlikely case that there is no consumption history the monthly payment amount is set at €61.
