Nacewa Becomes First Overseas Player To Land The Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Players' Player 2011

Leinster star Isa Nacewa, was last night voted the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Players’ Player of the Year by his fellow players at the ninth Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Rugby Awards. This is the first time an overseas player has won the top accolade and is just reward for his consistent but also outstanding performances this season. Connacht’s Fionn Carr was also among those recognised when he was awarded the IRUPA Volkswagen Try of the Year for his 70 yard effort away to the Scarlets.

Big Mal To Join IRUPA Bord Gáis Energy Hall Of Fame

On Wednesday 4th May at the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Rugby Awards, former Ireland & Lions second row Malcolm O’Kelly will become the 11th player to be inducted into the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Hall of Fame, joining other greats such as Girvan Dempsey, Anthony Foley, David Humphreys and Keith Wood.

Educated at Templeogue College, Big Mal won his first full cap in 1997 against the All Blacks in Lansdowne Road and went on to win 92 caps during his international career and is Ireland’s most capped second row. He won five Triple Crowns and was part of the 2009 Grand Slam winning team. He played in three Rugby World Cups and is a two time British & Irish Lion.

Top Names In Shake Up For Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Player Of The Year

Ireland’s Rugby Players Association IRUPA today announced the nominations for Irish rugby’s ultimate accolade, the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Players’ Player of the Year. The award is one of seven which will be announced at the annual awards on Wednesday 4th May. These are the only awards voted for by the players themselves and votes are spread from across all four provinces.

In the running to land the much sought after Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Players’ Player of the Year are Munster’s Keith Earls, Leinster’s dynamic back row Sean O’Brien and utility back Isa Nacewa, who is also nominated for the Volkswagen Try of the Year.

Bowe Scoops Bord Gáis Energy Players' Player 2010

Ireland and Ospreys winger, Tommy Bowe, was last night voted the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Players' Player of the Year by his fellow players at the eighth annual Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Awards. This is the second time Bowe has been honoured with the top accolade having won it in 2008. Connacht's Fionn Carr was also among those recognised tonight when he was awarded the IRUPA Nature Valley Young Player of the Year.

Tommy was delighted with the award commenting: "This is the second time I've received this Players' Player award and I'm absolutely thrilled, it's great to be recognised by the other players especially when you're playing overseas."

Dempsey Joins IRUPA Bord Gáis Energy Hall Of Fame

On Wednesday 12th May at the Eighth Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Rugby Awards, former Ireland full back Girvan Dempsey will be inducted into the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Hall of Fame, joining other greats such as Mick Galwey, Anthony Foley, David Humphreys and Keith Wood.

Educated at Terenure College, Dempsey won his first full cap as a replacement against Georgia in November 1998 and made an immediate impact scoring two tries. A former Ireland Under-21 and 'A' cap, Dempsey's senior career will probably be most remembered for his try in the left corner at Twickenham in 2004 which helped Ireland on their way to securing their first Triple Crown since 1985.

IRUPA today announced the nominations for Irish rugby's ultimate accolade, the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Players' Player of the Year 2010. The award is one of seven which will be announced at the Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Rugby Awards on Wednesday 12th May at Dublin's Burlington Hotel. These are the only awards voted for by the players themselves and votes are cast from across all four provinces.

Previous winners dominate the top category and amongst the favourites to land the coveted Bord Gáis Energy IRUPA Players' Player of the Year are Tommy Bowe of the Ospreys, who won the title in 2008, Leinster's No 8 Jamie Heaslip, winner of the Try of the Year Award last year and Munster's Keith Earls who is also nominated for Young Player of the Year, an award he took home in 2009.
