The energy to break through

2009 will go down as a classic year in the history of the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Hurling U-21 Championship.

Clare's maiden All-Ireland victory at U-21 level captured the attention of neutrals and die hard hurling fans alike and the gripping finale at Croke Park in September attracted one of the highest attendances in the history of the competition.

Under the keen eye of their manager John Minogue, the Banner overcame such hurling power houses as Limerick, Waterford, Galway and Kilkenny en route to a famous break through win.

The challenge of emulating the boys from the Banner starts in earnest on the 2nd June and it promises to be another hugely exciting year.

On our dedicated site breakingthrough.ie you can find all the latest news, views and interviews and just about everything else in between! New features include Joe Blogs featuring Galway star forward Joe Canning, a unique predictor league called Head2Head and of course the return of the Cross Bar Challenge.

2010 has a lot to live up to and no doubt the title defenders will put in some determined performances and inspire the same from the other pretenders and contenders.
