Business Energy - Price Change Notification

Changes to regulated and wholesale energy costs and PSO levy.

The CRU has recently announced some changes to the regulated costs of energy supply with effect from 1st October 2018. These charges are agreed with the network providers and apply to all energy supply companies. In addition, due to the significant and ongoing increases in wholesale market energy costs, we have found it necessary to increase the energy cost element for our standard variable rates. The combined increase in our standard variable unit rates will be 5% with effect from 1st October 2018.

Your bill will display your price plan/tariff name and the new rate from the effective date. Should your billing period span the effective date, your bill will show both the old and the new rate. Please see below for a list of impacted tariffs. All comparisons are rounded for presentation purposes.

The PSO levy is set by the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) and is charged to all electricity customers, regardless of who supplies their electricity. On 1st October, the PSO levy is reducing by between 55% and 65% depending on the size of business.

PSO Customer Category Monthly Levy Amount ex VAT (2018/19)
Domestic (includes Fully Fixed Portfolio) €3.48 per month
Small commercial (MIC <30kVA) €11.97 per month
Medium/Large commercial (MIC >=30kVA) €1.32 perkVA per month
