Players Meet ahead of Bord Gáis Energy GAA Hurling U21 Leinster Final.

Bord Gáis Energy ambassadors Liam Rushe of Dublin and Richie Hogan of Kilkenny were in Parnell Park today with their respective captains, Simon Lambert and David Langton ahead of their Bord Gáis Energy GAA Hurling U21 Leinster Final clash on Wednesday evening.

Bord Gáis Energy also used the occasion to launch a brand new website to support the GAA Hurling U21 Championship, www.breakingthrough.ie, which will offer news, information and a host of interactive activity linked to the competition. A major feature of the online campaign will be the ‘Pass it On’ viral which is set to take GAA fans by storm this summer. The video sees a sliotar being passed around the country and beyond, starting with Joe Canning in Portumna and on to various GAA stars and members of the public in a variety of unusual venues.

Bord Gáis Energy have set up a starting fund of €10,000 for Crumlin Children's Hospital and Temple Street Children's Hospital and have pledged to donate an additional €2, to be split between the charities, for every video clip that is uploaded onto the site by the public. There will also be a number of competitions running with top class prizes to be won based on the creativity of the footage uploaded. Full details can be found on www.breakingthrough.ie.

“Bord Gáis Energy is delighted to be launching this new website as part of its sponsorship plans for the GAA Hurling U21 Championship,” said Ger Cunningham, Sport Sponsorship Manager, Bord Gáis Energy. “We are really hoping the ‘Pass it On’ campaign will really capture the public imagination and to be able to help two very worthy causes at the same time should be a massive incentive.

“We are working hard to promote the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Hurling U21 Championship and it has really been a terrific competition to date. The Leinster Final between Kilkenny and Dublin I'm sure will not disappoint and I'm very much looking forward to the contest.”

Dublin won the GAA Hurling U21 Leinster Championship with victory over Offaly in 2007, after two defeats in a row to current champions Kilkenny and they will be looking to repeat their 2007 performance on Wednesday at Parnell Park. The match comes in the wake of the thrilling encounter between the two counties at senior level with a number of players who took part in that match due to feature in the repeat, including Bord Gáis Energy ambassadors Liam Rushe and Richie Hogan. Throw in at Parnell Park is at 7.30pm.
