Captains Face Off Ahead of Bord Gáis Energy NFL Finals Triple Bill

TG4 to broadcast three League Finals.

The Bord Gáis Energy Ladies National Football League Division 1, 2 and 3 finals take place this Saturday as a televised triple header at Parnell Park.

Galway, who topped the Division 1 table, take on reigning champions Cork for the Division 1 title.

The Rebelettes are featuring in their sixth final in seven years with four league titles already secured. Galway has never won the Division 1 title but were twice runners-up in 2005 and 2007. The two sides drew during the regular league season in a high scoring encounter in Buttevant.

In the Division 2 final Kildare take on Donegal. The Lilywhites needed a replay to account for Armagh and qualified for semi-finals as the fourth seeded team. Donegal on the other hand lost just one league game and beat Kildare by three points when they met at the start of April.

The Division 3 final will be contested by Cavan and Waterford. Cavan won all seven of their league matches and then powered past Wexford to book their spot in the final. Waterford needed a replay to secure their spot in the final beating Fermanagh at the second time of asking. There was only three points between the two sides when their met earlier in the season with the Breffni women edging the result. All three finals will be televised live by TG4 from Parnell Park.

Pat Quill, president of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, said, "This year's leagues have been very closely contested and all six teams represented here today are very deserving of their places in the finals. The Bord Gáis Energy National Leagues allows our inter-county teams to develop players in a competitive atmosphere and the continued unwavering support of our sponsors, Bord Gáis Energy, has been a vital element of the league's continuing success."

Ger Cunningham, Sponsorship Manager for Bord Gáis Energy, commented, "We are reaching the end of another exciting NFL season and Bord Gáis Energy have been delighted to sponsor the competition again this year as part of our support of Gaelic Games. We have introduced the Bord Gáis Energy Manager of the Month award which has been very well received and once the Finals have been completed, we will announce the Manager of the League alongside the Teams of the League, which will recognise the efforts and commitment of players across all four divisions."
