Bord Gáis Energy partners with Saint Vincent de Paul

Bord Gáis Energy and the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SVP) have announced a partnership that will focus on helping householders at risk of fuel poverty. The aim of the partnership is to offer solutions which will help consumers efficiently manage their energy needs.

To start the initiative, Bord Gáis Energy donated €50,000 to SVP to support its annual appeal. A pilot programme is also under way through which energy monitors will be accessible to those availing of services from SVP. As part of the programme, SVP volunteers are being trained on how to use the energy monitors, so they can in turn help householders understand and manage their energy consumption.

Speaking about the initiative Nicky Doran, Head of Retail with Bord Gáis Energy said, "Our role is to help consumers understand their energy usage and find ways to maximise the efficiency of that consumption. This will also lead to greater value for money. We are proud to partner with SVP and hope our programmes will help those at risk of fuel poverty on many levels."

Brendan Hennessy from SVP said, “It’s important for householders to understand their energy usage and how they can reduce their energy consumption. Our partnership with Bord Gáis Energy not only provides SVP Conferences with monetary support to help people in need, but it will also enable us to work with householders to help them use their energy more efficiently and ultimately save money.”
