The Bord Gáis Energy Little Readers campaign has generated over €2,600 for the Irish Premature Babies Fund.

The Bord Gáis Energy Little Readers campaign has generated over €2,600 for the Irish Premature Babies Fund.

The initiative, which is in its second year, was designed to encourage reading from an early age, with parents of children aged 0-5 years invited to register for a free book for their child. For every registration, Bord Gáis Energy donated €1 to the Irish Premature Babies Fund.

Commenting on the campaign, Jen Crawford, director of Irish Premature Babies, said: "We were so happy to see the return of the Little Readers initiative once again this year. It's so important to encourage parents to read with their little ones from an early age and to encourage a love of books as they grow older. Support from campaigns such as this are crucial to the work of Irish Premature Babies and allow us to continue to work with the smallest babies in the country and their parents".

Irene Gowing, Bord Gáis Energy Communications Manager, said, "There was an overwhelming response to the first Little Readers campaign and we were delighted to be able to run it again for a second year. We’re thrilled to play a small part in helping to nurture a love of books and reading in children throughout the country from a young age. We’re also delighted to support the Irish Premature Babies Fund, an organisation which plays such an important role in helping the families of vulnerable children start out in life".
