Bord Gáis Energy to open doors of Whitegate Power Station

28 January 2016: Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the doors of a power generation plant? Now you have the opportunity to find out more.

Bord Gáis Energy is inviting members of the public to sign up for a tour of its world class power station in Whitegate, Co. Cork.  At 11am on 17 February, the company will open the doors of its 445MW power station which runs 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Experienced members of the Bord Gáis Energy team will show visitors the day to day workings of the station, before leading a tour of the state-of-the-art plant.

The Whitegate tours are part of 'Open House Energy', an initiative by the Electricity Association of Ireland which aims to raise awareness of how energy services are delivered and consumed. Over the next few months, a number of Ireland’s energy firms will be opening their doors to members of the public with a series of events being held across the country.
