How do I cancel my application to switch?

To find out how to cancel your application to switch to us, see the options listed below. 

Under the Consumer Rights Act of 2022, you can cancel your contract within 14 days of the contract start date, if you signed up on our website or over the phone. If you signed up with one of our doorstep sales agents, you’ve 30 days to cancel. 

If you applied to switch your gas or electricity to us and now wish to cancel, please follow these steps:

I applied to switch within the last 14 days (or 30 days if you signed up via a doorstep sales agent) 

1. Please complete our Cancellation Formonline. Alternatively, you can download the formand post to Customer Service, Bord Gáis Energy, PO Box 10943, Dublin 2.  

2. You can also get in touch with us bysubmitting a queryto request that your account be closed. 

I applied to switch more than 14 days ago (or 30 days if you signed up via a doorstep sales agent) 

1. You'll need to contact usdirectly to request that your account be closed. In this instance, a fee may apply as this is outside the cooling off period. 

Please note: 

You have the option to postpone your switch to us until after the cooling off period. This means that well wait until after the 14 day (or 30 day if you sign up with a door to door agent) cooling off period is up, to start the process of switching your supply to Bord Gáis Energy. If you wish to do this, please select this option at sign up.
