A commitment to inclusive digital access

At Bord Gáis Energy, we're working to make sure that everyone can use our website.

We work hard to provide products and services that are helpful for all our customers. We want everyone to be able to use our website and app, including people with sight, hearing, physical and any other disabilities.

Our pledge to you

This accessibility statement applies to Bord Gáis Energy and our mobile app.

We know there isn't a one-size-fits-all approach to making our site accessible. So if you're having problems using this site, please let us know using the details below. We'll try to find a way for you to access our content.

Bord Gáis Energy is committed to meeting recognised accessibility standards. We believe in listening to our customers and working with testers to make it easier to navigate through our website and app. The website and our app partially comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1, and we’re working on making all our content accessible.

The website has been created and is managed so that as many Bord Gáis Energy customers as possible can use it. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS and NVDA)
  • Listen to the Bord Gáis Energy App using the latest operating systems for VoiceOver (Apple) and Talkback (Android)

We’re staying up to date with accessibility standards by:

  • Making sure our website and app meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard
  • Monitoring and testing our online platform with customers and testers to ensure our website and app works with commonly used assistive technologies

Bord Gáis Energy is undertaking improvements to the accessibility of this website by:

  • Reviewing and improving the accessibility of content on an ongoing basis
  • Carrying out annual accessibility audits of samples of our website/mobile application

Areas where we are not fully meeting:

  • Content structure and navigation: Some pages need better heading hierarchy and layout clarity. We are auditing and fixing headings, lists, and other structural elements to improve screen reader navigation and overall readability.
  • PDF documents: Some PDF files or documents on our site are not yet optimised for accessibility (missing tags for reading order or descriptions). We are updating these files or providing content in HTML pages.
  • Imagery and legacy content: We have a large website and continuing to review images where the alternative text may be missing or content may need to be written more simply.
