When will I get a smart meter?
ESB Networks is continuing to roll out smart meters across Ireland.
Work is being carried out on an area-by-area basis by ESB Networks (ESBN) to replace 24 hour, day/night and night storage meters with smart meters.
ESB Networks will be in contact when they reach your area to notify you when your meter will be replaced. They’ll also advise whether you need to be present during the replacement (e.g. if your meter is indoors).
ESBN started to roll out smart meters to customers with 3-phase meters from August 2025. It will also be possible for customers with single phase night storage meters to avail of a new day/night smart meter.
