Energy efficiency support
At Bord Gáis Energy, we're committed to helping businesses reduce their energy usage and costs. As part of the SEAI's Energy Efficiency Obligation Scheme (EEOS), we offer financial and technical assistance to businesses for completed and ongoing energy efficiency projects. Since 2014, we've provided over €10 million in funding to dozens of small, medium and large enterprises.

Administered by the SEAI, the scheme started in 2014. It places obligations on energy suppliers and distributors to deliver energy savings.

What projects are eligible for support?
At Bord Gáis Energy, we provide support for a wide range of qualified energy efficiency projects to help businesses reduce their energy usage and costs. From lighting upgrades to process and machinery improvements, we offer a variety of solutions to meet the needs of our business clients.
A lighting upgrade involves replacing traditional bulbs with more energy-efficient LED lighting solutions.
Improve your commercial building's energy efficiency through the use of advanced controls and automation systems.
Replace older, less efficient compressors with newer, more energy-efficient models.
Improve the efficiency of your compressed air system by reducing air leaks, eliminating air wastage and enhancing air distribution.
Improve the efficiency of steam systems by reducing steam leaks and improving heat transfer.
Replace older equipment with newer, more energy-efficient models, such as high-efficiency motors and variable speed drives (VSD).
Improve energy efficiency by upgrading your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
Heat recovery involves capturing and reusing waste heat generated by industrial processes to reduce energy waste.
Transport upgrades such as electric vehicles (EVs) are eligible for support under the initiative.
CHP converts a single fuel into power and heat simultaneously.
Other energy efficiency activities supported by the EEOS may include energy audits, Measurement and Verification, building insulation upgrades and renewable energy installations, depending on the needs of your business.

Bord Gáis Energy will prepare the submission and manage the approval process with the SEAI.
We offer financial assistance based on the amount of energy savings your project achieves.
The savings will be calculated based on an SEAI-approved calculation tool or IPMVP (International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol) techniques.
There is no requirement to be a customer of Bord Gáis Energy.
Energy savings from work completed (and not claimed) from 1 January 2021 are eligible.
