Will Bord Gáis Energy be notifying customers that the electricity payment has been applied to their account?

We've automatically applied the payment to all customer's electricity accounts, so you don't need to do anything. 

Customers with an online account will be able to see the payment in the 'Bills and Transactions' tab on their account dashboard. If you don’t have an online account, you can register here. Customers can also see the payment on their next bill after the credit has been applied.

Pay As You Go Customers

If you're a PAYG customer, we’ll send you an SMS when your credit is available. 

Just to let you know, there is a ‘hard-coded’ single vend limit of €100 on a small amount of legacy PAYG meters. Customers using legacy PAYG meters will need to redeem their credit over three separate transactions over the space of a few days. 

Once you receive your SMS:

You'll need to top up by a minimum of €10 to redeem each stage of credit. When this is done you'll receive a new 40-digit code which will credit your meter with the Government electricity credit once entered. Once the credit is applied you can access it by vending three times as below:  

  • Purchase a top-up of €10, and €90 of the Government Electricity Credit will be applied for a total top-up of €100. 
  • Purchase a top-up of €10, and €90 of the Government Electricity Credit will be applied for a total top-up of €100. 
  • Purchase a top-up of €10, and €20 of the Government Electricity Credit will be applied for a total top-up of €30.
