Standard Smart

This plan splits your electricity usage into three time bands:

  • Day (8am to 11pm – excluding Peak)
  • Night (11pm to 8am)
  • Peak (5pm to 7pm – Monday to Friday)
With the Standard Smart tariff:
  • You can choose to do more at a time that costs you less
  • Your smart meter data will be collected every two months
  • You will be billed every two months 

This plan is available as both standard and green. If you sign up for green energy, you will be using 100% renewable electricity.

  • Please note that if you are an existing Bord Gáis Energy customer and move to a smart tariff, it’s not possible to revert back to a non-smart tariff/ old meter type due to industry rules for smart metering.
  • If you're an existing customer on Level Pay and sign up to a Green and/or Smart plan your level pay will stop. Any balance due will be taken with your next Direct Debit. Any credit will also be taken into account.

  • With 12 months Fixed Term contract:
  • For dual fuel offers - discounts are off our gas and smart electricity unit rates for 12 months. 5% discount thereafter. You must pay by direct debit and paperless billing to continue to receive these discounts. 
  • For electricity only offers - discounts are off our smart electricity unit rates for 12 months. 5% discount thereafter. You must pay by direct debit and paperless billing to continue to receive these discounts.
    • With 24 months Fixed Term contract (applicable for dual fuel only) discounts are off our gas and electricity unit rates for first 12 months. For the next 12 months of the contract, the discounts are 9% off Gas and 5% off Electricity. 5% discount thereafter. You must pay by direct debit and paperless billing to continue to receive these discounts.
    • An early exit fee of €50 will apply if you leave before the end of your Fixed Term Contract.
    • Prices are effective from 29 February 2024 for electricity and gas and are subject to change.

  • ** Estimated Annual Bill 
  • The Estimated Annual Bill is calculated based on an average annual consumption of 4200 kWh in electricity (as defined by the CRU) and Bord Gáis Energy’s Standard Smart Tariff (Urban) less any percentage discounts. Your actual rates may differ depending on your meter type. Consumption is split as follows (as defined by the CRU):- Day – 52% Night – 39%, Peak – 9%. Free offers such as boiler services (where applicable) are NOT included. The EAB is only shown on our Standard Smart Tariff.

Microgen export option available

Microgen export option is available on plans for qualifying customers who have solar panels installed and have been certified by ESB Networks. Subject to approval. Microgen Export Plan terms and conditions apply.

Welcome Bonus for new Smart customers

  • Welcome Bonus of €100 for new Bord Gáis Energy residential customers who successfully sign up to a Smart Dual Fuel offer of 24% off electricity and 20% off Gas. Welcome Bonus will be applied as a credit to the customer’s electricity account.
  • Welcome Bonus of €50 for new Bord Gáis Energy residential customers who successfully sign up to a Smart Electricity offer of 24% off electricity. Welcome Bonus will be applied as a credit to the customer’s electricity account.
  • Welcome Bonus of €50 for new Bord Gáis Energy residential customers who successfully sign up to a Smart (SST, Weekend or EV) Electricity offer of 30% off electricity. Welcome Bonus will be applied as a credit to the customer’s electricity account.
  • €100 or €50 credit will be applied to customer’s electricity account after a successful registration and any applicable cooling-off period has passed.  
  • If you sign up between 24 April and 30 April 2024 then the credit will be applied to your account on 1 July 2024. If you sign up in May then the credit will be applied to your account on 1 August 2024. If you sign up in June then the credit will be applied to your account on 1 September. Once the credit has been applied to your account, it will appear on your next bill. 
  • If you are billed prior to your credit being applied or your credit is applied before your direct debit payment is taken (14 days), your Direct Debit payment will be processed and and the credit will then come off your next bill.  
  • Customers cannot exchange their bill credit for cash. 
  • Bord Gáis Energy may change or withdraw the terms and conditions of this offer at any time. 

Hive EV Charger Installation and Smart EV Plan Bundle with €150 Bonus Credit

Terms and Conditions of Offer - May 2024

  1. Customers are eligible for the bonus credit of €150 for new and existing Bord Gáis Energy residential customers who successfully sign-up to our EV smart plan and have had an EV charger installed through Local Heroes OR have had an EV charger installed through Local Heroes and then sign up for a Bord Gáis Energy EV Smart Plan. This offer applies from 04/06/2024 and will end on 31/08/2024
  2. The bonus will be applied as a credit to the customer’s electricity account.
  3. €150 credit will be applied to customer’s electricity account after a successful registration to a Bord Gáis Energy EV Smart plan and EV charger install (within 6 months of each other) and any applicable cooling-off period has passed.
  4. If you meet the criteria set out in clause 1) above in June then the credit will be applied to your account in July. If you sign up in July then the credit will be applied to your account in August. If you sign up in August then the credit will be applied to your account in September. Once the credit has been applied to your account, it will appear on your next bill.
  5. If you are billed prior to your credit being applied or your credit is applied before your direct debit payment is taken (14 days), your Direct Debit payment will be processed and the credit will then come off your next bill.
  6. Customers cannot exchange their bill credit for cash.
  7. Bord Gáis Energy may change or withdraw the terms and conditions of this offer at any time.
