Dave Kirwan, Managing Director
Dave was responsible for leading the Bord Gáis Energy business through the successful sale to Centrica.
Prior to the sale, Dave worked in Bord Gáis Eireann for 15 years and was responsible for the launch of its Northern Ireland business, firmus, the development of the Whitegate power station and the acquisition and subsequent merger of the SWS wind business.
Prior to joining Bord Gáis Energy Dave worked in power generation sector for ESB/ESBI in Ireland, US and Vietnam.
Dave holds a BE electronics from UCD and is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers of Ireland, he also holds an MBA from UCC and a doctorate in business economics (DBA) from UCC.
Nico O’Rourke, Head of Assets & Trading
Nico is responsible for the maintenance & operations of the 441MW Whitegate Power Station, Trading and Pricing of all wholesale activities, Development of new assets for Bord Gáis Energy and the Health and Safety of the company as a whole.
Nico joined us from ESB where he was most recently responsible for Development and Acquisitions of Renewables for the state entity, the core of ESBs generation investment programme. Nico developed a number of operational trading organisations while with ESB and led the programme of rationalisation and integration of the wholesale supply, deregulated retail and trading side of the business.
Prior to that, Nico led the commercial team building a 350MW power station in Dublin, worked as Risk & Portfolio Manager with Viridian and with Accenture in a number of Utility Strategy and Trading roles across Europe.
Nico holds a BA Hons in Natural Sciences from Trinity College Dublin, an MSc in Optoelectronics and Optical Information Processing and a PhD in Physics from Queen’s University of Belfast.
Mark Prentice, Head of Retail
Mark is accountable for the customer offer and retail strategy, proposition development, category P&L performance, sales and marketing and energy services. Over the last four years Mark has been part of the Bord Gáis Energy Management team which successfully led the business through the sale process to Centrica and the growth of the Retail business post gas market deregulation.
Prior to joining the Bord Gáis Energy business in September 2011, Mark was Managing Director of firmus energy for 6 years (Bord Gáis's supply & distribution subsidiary company in Northern Ireland).
Joanne Ross, Head of Legal & Regulation
Joanne is responsible for Regulation, Legal & Corporate Development. Since joining Bord Gáis Energy in 2011 the organisation has gone through some major changes which Joanne has played a key leadership role in, including its restructuring and sale to Centrica plc and price de-regulation.
Prior to joining Bord Gáis Energy Joanne held General Counsel & Company Secretary roles in both the FMCG and IT industries. Prior to that she spent five years working with McCann FitzGerald solicitors, specialising in Mergers and Acquisition and Corporate Finance.
Joanne has a Bachelor of Civil Law degree from University College Dublin and is a director on Board of the Electricity Association of Ireland.
Patrick McMahon, Chief Financial Officer
Patrick joined Bord Gáis Energy in 2014 following the acquisition by Centrica plc with the objective of providing financial insight to the management team, strengthening financial controls and ensuring Bord Gáis Energy remain disciplined in the deployment of capital.
A Chartered Accountant, Patrick began his career with KPMG in Dublin. He went on to join ICI Corporate Finance in London for two years and subsequently spent eight years in the UK performing a number finance roles in Centrica plc, including Finance Director of British Gas Residential Energy.
Patrick spent four years in North America as Vice President of Direct Energy Services and subsidiary of Centrica plc.
Teresa Purtill, Head of Customer Operations
Teresa joined Bord Gáis Energy in August 2015 and is responsible for customer experience, billing and credit management, contact centre management and business change.
Prior to that Teresa held the role of Global VP for Customer Care for the Hertz Corporation with responsibility for both sales and service customer facing and shared service activity across fifteen sites globally. Her background is in leading change programs and driving transformation. Teresa held a variety of operational, revenue and service roles throughout her fifteen year tenure with Hertz. Prior to that she was involved in the start-up of a Pan European Care Centre for Xerox Europe in Dublin.
Teresa holds an MA in European Integration from the University of Limerick and is a graduate of Wharton Business School Executive Development Program, University of Pennsylvania.
