Catherine O’Kelly

Catherine O'Kelly, Managing Director

Catherine joined Bord Gáis Energy as Managing Director in September 2018. She has been with Centrica since 2011. Catherine’s previous role was Director of Industry Development at British Gas, where she oversaw major industry programmes including Smart Metering and the Energy Company Obligation.

Prior to this, Catherine spent four years as Chief of Staff to the Centrica Group CEO. Her background is in energy strategy, initially as a management consultant with Booz & Company advising companies in Europe, Asia and Africa, and at the UK’s Carbon Trust working on energy policy design.

Catherine is also a non-executive Board Member of the UK-based Peabody Housing Association’s charitable foundation. She has an MA (Oxen) in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Oxford.

Mark Prentice

Mark Prentice, Head of Retail

Mark has been with Bord Gáis Energy since September 2011 and was part of the management team which led the business through the sale process to Centrica and subsequently drove the ‘volume to value’ customer strategy.

For the majority of Mark’s time in BGE, he has held the role of Head of Retail with responsibility for sales, marketing and customer strategy across the B2C, B2B and Services businesses. Prior to 2011, he was Managing Director of firmus energy (BGE’s subsidiary in Northern Ireland), having previously worked in the U.K. for The Boots Company and Thorntons’ PLC. Mark has an honours degree in business and a Diploma in Company Direction (IoD).

Colin Bebbington

Colin Bebbington, Head of Retail (Interim)

Colin is accountable for retail strategy, sales and marketing, category performance, and energy services. Since joining Bord Gáis Energy in 2012 Colin has held the role of Residential Category Controller with responsibility of delivering the segment P&L.

Colin has a wealth of experience in the telecommunications and energy sectors, including senior roles at Vodafone and Meteor. Colin holds a Masters in Strategic Management from University College Dublin and is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin .

John Dalton

John Dalton, Finance Partner

John leads the finance function at Bord Gáis Energy and is responsible for the preparation of the financial accounts, developing annual forecasts while also helping guide the business in arriving at and delivering towards a five year plan.

John has been with Bord Gáis Energy since 2015 and joined the management team in May 2017. Prior to working with Bord Gáis Energy, John worked in Centrica within the Energy Markets & Trading function. John is a Chartered Accountant (ACA), has a Masters in Financial Services (MBS) and is a member of the Association of Corporate Treasures (AMCT).

Lorraine McCullen

Lorraine McCullen, HR Partner

Lorraine has led the HR department at Bord Gáis Energy since 2016 and is a HR Partner within the Centrica HR function. Lorraine sits on the Executive Management team and guides the business in decisions around hiring, reward and benefits, organisation design, talent, engagement, internal communications, corporate responsibility, payroll operations and industrial relations. The HR team which researches, analyses, creates and puts those decisions into operation won CIPD Team of the Year in 2015.  Prior to joining Bord Gáis Energy, Lorraine worked for 15 years in commercial, operational and HR roles in the Irish aviation industry.

Nico O’Rourke

Nico O’Rourke, Head of Assets & Trading

Nico is responsible for the maintenance & operations of the 441MW Whitegate Power Station, Trading and Pricing of all wholesale activities, Development of new assets for Bord Gáis Energy and the Health and Safety of the company as a whole.

Nico joined us from ESB where he was most recently responsible for Development and Acquisitions of Renewables for the state entity, the core of ESBs generation investment programme. Nico developed a number of operational trading organisations while with ESB and led the programme of rationalisation and integration of the wholesale supply, deregulated retail and trading side of the business.

Prior to that, Nico led the commercial team building a 350MW power station in Dublin, worked as Risk & Portfolio Manager with Viridian and with Accenture in a number of Utility Strategy and Trading roles across Europe.

Nico holds a BA Hons in Natural Sciences from Trinity College Dublin, an MSc in Optoelectronics and Optical Information Processing and a PhD in Physics from Queen’s University of Belfast.

Teresa Purtill

Teresa Purtill, Head of Customer Operations

Teresa joined Bord Gáis Energy in August 2015 and is responsible for customer experience, billing and credit management, contact centre management and business change.

Prior to that Teresa held the role of Global VP for Customer Care for the Hertz Corporation with responsibility for both sales and service customer facing and shared service activity across fifteen sites globally. Her background is in leading change programs and driving transformation. Teresa held a variety of operational, revenue and service roles throughout her fifteen year tenure with Hertz. Prior to that she was involved in the start-up of a Pan European Care Centre for Xerox Europe in Dublin.

Teresa holds an MA in European Integration from the University of Limerick and is a graduate of Wharton Business School Executive Development Program, University of Pennsylvania.

Joanne Ross

Joanne Ross, Head of Legal & Regulation

Joanne is responsible for Regulation, Legal & Corporate Development. Since joining Bord Gáis Energy in 2011 the organisation has gone through some major changes which Joanne has played a key leadership role in, including its restructuring and sale to Centrica plc and price de-regulation.

Prior to joining Bord Gáis Energy Joanne held General Counsel & Company Secretary roles in both the FMCG and IT industries.  Prior to that she spent five years working with McCann FitzGerald solicitors, specialising in Mergers and Acquisition and Corporate Finance.

Joanne has a Bachelor of Civil Law degree from University College Dublin and is a director on Board of the Electricity Association of Ireland.
