Bord Gáis Energy joins industry network Ad Net Zero
Bord Gáis Energy joins initiative to reduce carbon emissions associated with advertising
Bord Gáis Energy has joined the industry-wide initiative Ad Net Zero, which aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions associated with advertising campaign production.
By partnering with Ad Net Zero, Bord Gáis Energy is contributing to its ambition of achieving net-zero status by 2045, while supporting its customers in their transition to greener energy solutions by 2050.
Bord Gáis Energy has already taken steps to reduce the carbon footprint associated with advertising campaigns as evidenced by its 2023 TV advert, produced with Ecoscope and Folk VML and created with sustainable catering, energy consumption, and materials.
Furthermore, the Bord Gáis Energy marketing team received a CPD-recognised qualification for their training programme which focuses on the climate crisis and the necessary steps to achieve net-zero emissions across advertising development, production, and media placement.
With the support of the Ad Zero Network, Bord Gáis Energy will collaborate across the network and alongside its partner agency Mindshare to work to develop and implement lower carbon media plans; harness sustainably produced advertising to influence customers to make greener choices, including promoting green energy plans and encouraging consideration of renewable energy sources for the home; participate in working groups across Ad Net Zero’s 5 key actions, exploring strategies to promote widespread adoption of practices for measuring, managing, and reducing emissions in advertising.
Head of Marketing for Bord Gáis Energy, Meadhbh Quinn, said:
“Bord Gáis Energy has an overall ambition to energising a greener, fairer future and to achieving net zero across its operations by 2045.
