Terms and Conditions of Offer
1. This offer entitles new and existing residential Bord Gáis Energy customers to a free single zone Hive Active Heating (“Hive”) including installation when they successfully sign up to one of Bord Gáis Energy’s qualifying electricity or Dual Fuel offers as may be offered by us from time to time.
The following Terms and Conditions of Supply will apply (depending on which contract the customer has chosen) as listed below.

As part of the offer for a free Hive Installation, Bord Gáis Energy may also offer a discount on our unit rates for a specified Commitment Period. Any discounts off our electricity and gas unit rates will be offered to the customer at the time of sign-up for the offer.
2. The Offer: This offer requires you to pay by direct debit and to sign up for paperless billing. The offer requires a contract with fixed term/commitment period of a specified duration which will be either 12 or 24 months (the “Commitment Period”). This will be offered to you at sign-up. You must remain a customer of Bord Gáis Energy for the Commitment Period. If you terminate the agreement and/or change supplier for either natural gas or electricity or both before the expiry of the Commitment Period, then we have the right to charge you an early exit fee. The early exit fee is €50 and will be applied to your account. We will send you a notice at least 30 days and no more than 60 days prior to the end of your Commitment Period. The Bord Gáis Energy Standard Terms and Conditions set out in section 1 apply to your contract with us.
3. Once a customer signs up to this promotional offer, they will receive an order confirmation containing instructions on how to book their Hive installation appointment.
4. Hive Active Heating: This offer includes one single heating zone + one hot water zone. Additional zones are available at a charge of €119 per zone. To operate Hive, you must have a compatible boiler, a Hive Hub and tablet/smartphone/Wi-Fi. To use Hive products, you’ll need,
- A domestic broadband connection with a spare Ethernet port connection
- An extra power socket close to your broadband router
- An Android, iOS, Amazon, or Windows smartphone with an up-to-date operating system if you want to use your smartphone to control your Hive products via the Hive app, and
- An up-to-date web browser to use the online dashboard (Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 (desktop & mobile), Mozilla Firefox 33, Google Chrome 29 (37 for mobile) or Apple Safari 7)”
Once your cooling off period has expired, you will be eligible to book your Hive installation appointment. To receive your Hive, you must book in your installation appointment within three months of signing up for this offer. If you don’t book in your installation appointment within those three months, we may no longer be able to offer you the free Hive. The Terms and Conditions of Sale: Hive and the Terms and Conditions of Hive Installation apply to the installation of your Hive. This offer is not available if you have already installed Hive in your home.
5. Eligibility Check: Bord Gáis Energy will perform a full eligibility check on your boiler and assess your home’s suitability for Hive installation on the date of the scheduled Hive installation appointment. If, during the eligibility check, we determine that we are not able to commence or that your home is incompatible with Hive, we will notify you of the reason for this and you may be eligible for an alternative offer.
Currently, Hive installations are not available in the following counties:
- Cavan
- Galway
- Monaghan
The customer must ensure their home is in an eligible location before availing of this offer and booking any Hive installation appointment.
6. Cancellation: You have a right to cancel this Offer, without charge, within the following cooling-off periods:
- 14 days from the date you agreed to your contract if you signed up via website or over the phone,
- or 30 days if you signed up via one of our doorstep sales agents,
by using the cancellation form on our website at https://www.bordgaisenergy.ie/cancellation-form/ or by contacting us directly. However, where we have:
• already begun to supply you with gas and electricity during this cooling off period, you agree to pay for all electricity and natural gas supplied to you up to the date of cancellation; and/or
• already installed your Hive, you agree to reimburse us €299 for the Hive installation or you can choose to have the Hive uninstalled at a cost of €159.
If you cancel outside of the Commitment Period, an Early Exit Fee may apply to the Contract as set out at section 2 above and a €30 administration fee will apply for cancellation of Hive installation appointment on less than 24 hours’ notice.
7. Terms and Conditions: To avail of this offer, you must agree to the relevant Bord Gáis Energy Terms and Conditions of Supply (Fixed Term Contract) depending on the offer you have chosen as set out at section 1 above and the Terms and Conditions of Hive Installation and the Terms and Conditions Hive Sale.
8. Complaints Procedure: If you are unhappy with any service or contact that you have with us, you can register your complaint with us in any of the following ways:
• calling our customer service representatives at 01 611 01 01;
• by email to info@bordgais.ie or through our website at www.bordgaisenergy.ie; or
• by letter to Customer Care, Bord Gáis Energy, PO Box 10943, Freepost F4062, Dublin 2.

13. The offer is as stated, and NO CASH ALTERNATIVES OR REFUNDS will be offered.

15. This offer cannot be used on pre-existing orders or in conjunction with any other discount or promotional offer.
