What to have ready when you contact us

To help us assist you quickly, please have the following information available when you get in touch:

  • The account number(s) linked to the deceased person
  • The date the person passed away

How we can help

From the moment you get in touch, we’ll make things as straightforward as possible:

  1. When you contact us

We’ll ask you a few questions to collect the information we need, always with your consent. We’ll also take your contact details to stay in touch throughout the process.

  1. What happens to the account?

The account will either need to be closed with an up-to-date meter reading, or a new account will need to be opened.

If you’re managing the estate, we may ask you to set up a new account to keep the energy supply active.

  1. What happens to the account balance?

Any debt or credit is incorporated into the estate and will be managed through the probate process. We'll explain the process to you and answer any questions you may have when you contact us.

  1. Requesting a refund

If you've any questions or need support, contact the Bereavement Support team on 01 611 01 46 (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.)
