Can I cancel my direct debit?

While we recommend keeping your direct debit active, you can contact us if you wish to cancel it.

We recommend keeping your direct debit active for two reasons:

  • You’ll keep your 2% discount – customers who pay by direct debit automatically receive a 2% discount on their bill. If you cancel, you’ll lose this benefit.
  • It makes payment easier – with direct debit, your bill is paid automatically 14 days after it’s issued. If you cancel, you’ll need to remember to pay manually each time to avoid an overdue balance.

If you still wish to cancel your direct debit, please contact us.

Cancelling your direct debit after your bill has been issued

When a bill is issued, the direct debit amount on the bill will be requested from your bank on the due date shown (14 days after your bill issue date).

If you make a payment between your bill being issued and your direct debit being taken, your direct debit amount will still be taken as normal because we’ve already applied to the bank for the full amount and are unable to change this. In this instance, the additional payment will be added to your account balance and can be used towards your next bill.
