What happens if I can’t top up?
If you run out of credit and can't top up, you can use emergency credit.
Electricity
If the credit on your meter runs low, you’ll be offered €20 Emergency Credit. If you use all your Emergency Credit, you'll need to top up by at least €25 to use it again. Click here to top up online
If you pressed the 0 button to turn off the low credit alarm, you'll be supplied with the Emergency Credit.
If you didn't press the 0 button your supply will go off. However, simply press the 0 button and your supply will return after a few seconds.
Gas
If the credit on your meter runs low, you’ll be offered €20 Emergency Credit. The next time you top up, 45% of your top up will be used against the Emergency Credit. For example, if you used €20 Emergency Credit and then top up by €10, €4.50 will be used to repay the Emergency Credit.
When you want to use your Emergency Credit, insert your gas card into the meter. When the Emergency Credit is offered, you can accept it by pressing the red Button A.
If you use any of the €20 Emergency Credit, you must pay it back before you can borrow the whole amount again.
If you wish to see how much Emergency Credit you've used and owe, remove the gas card and press and release red button A.
We understand that there may be situations when you can't get to your nearest Payzone outlet to top up your meter. That's why we have the option to add Emergency Credit to your meter, until you can top up again. The next time you top up, we'll simply take it off the credit.
It's best to only use Emergency Credit when you really need it, as you'll need to pay it back before you can use it again.
