Bord Gáis Energy reaffirms commitment to inclusion

As Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) publishes its fifth Elevate Inclusive Workplace Pledge report, Bord Gáis Energy continues to demonstrate its leadership as a signatory, reaffirming our public commitment to taking measurable, accountable action to build a truly inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.

The Elevate Pledge is a national initiative delivered by BITCI that calls on employers to move beyond statements of intent and take practical action on diversity, equity and inclusion. The pledge is grounded by commitments to data, external benchmarking and leadership ensuring progress is measurable, transparent and embedded into how the organisation operates day to day.

Progress from Bord Gáis Energy includes the relaunch of its Apprenticeship Programme, its Hormone Health Programme and enhanced policies such as non‑birth parent leave, and a Work‑Life Balance Framework. The company also joined the Elephant in the Room movement, an initiative which focuses on promoting mental health, psychological safety and inclusion across the business. In addition, Bord Gáis Energy has achieved the Menopause Hub Accreditation and Investors in Diversity Bronze and Silver Accreditation’s. The company is also the recent winner of the Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Initiative at the Business & Finance ESG Awards 2026.

Martina Williamson, People Director, Bord Gáis Energy, said: "at Bord Gáis Energy, we believe inclusive workplaces are fundamental to sustainable business success and to creating a culture where everyone feels valued and supported. Being a signatory of the Elevate Pledge reinforces our commitment to moving beyond intention to action, embedding accountability, data‑led insight and leadership at the heart of how we approach DE&I. Elevate provides a strong framework to help us continue to learn, measure progress and drive meaningful change across our organisation."

Bord Gáis Energy has six colleague-led networks and a Mental Health First Aiders group. These networks include BRÓD (our LGBTQ+ network), our Women’s Network, REACH (our multicultural network), the Neurodiversity Network, the Working Parents Network, and the Carers Network.
