#HurlingToTheCore ambassadors Joe Canning and Brendan Maher launch Bord Gáis Energy’s Senior Hurling Championship Campaign ahead of a season like no other

Bord Gáis Energy reveals plans for an exciting new content series showing fans as they watch big matches live in their front rooms.

Hurling fans are being called on to get involved by uploading videos of their matchday viewing experience to win unmissable GAA Rewards.

Everything about this year’s Senior Hurling Championship will be different, from the time of year to the possibility of matches behind closed doors. Bord Gáis Energy today revealed plans to document a season like no other, with a new online content series called GAAGAA Box featuring fans live in their living room and a call for #HurlingToTheCore supporters to get involved by sharing their new matchday viewing experiences.

To coincide with the rescheduled hurling season, Bord Gáis Energy will be launching GAAGAA Box - an exciting new online video series filmed in the front-rooms of the most passionate hurling supporters across the country to record the agony and the ecstasy they experience while watching their beloved counties in action at home.

#HurlingToTheCore ambassadors Joe Canning and Brendan Maher were on hand, albeit from home, to launch Bord Gáis Energy’s fourth year as sponsors of the Senior Hurling Championship, where the call went out to fans to take part – and be in with a chance to winning unique 2021 matchday experiences.

Bord Gáis Energy wants people to show how they are adapting to watching games at home and are calling on fans to record themselves as they live through the most exciting moments of matches and share them on social media using the #HurlingToTheCore hashtag.

Managing Director of Bord Gáis Energy, Dave Kirwan said: “At Bord Gáis Energy we know how much our customers love hurling and how deeply rooted the game is in the communities in which they live. We are conscious that the match-day experience will be different for so many people this year, but we know that this won’t stop fans getting behind their county and getting involved.

“We’re very proud of our long association with the GAA.  This is our fourth year as sponsor of the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship and twelfth as title sponsors of the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Hurling U-20 Championship. I’d like to thank our partners in the GAA for their continued support, and wish our ambassadors Joe and Brendan all the best for the coming season.”

Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, John Horan added: “Bord Gáis Energy are long-time supporters of hurling, with their serious commitment over the last number of years meaning they have become synonymous with the game. Their continued support of the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship as well as their long-standing sponsorship of the U-20 competition and the Legends Tour Series at Croke Park is a mark of their ongoing support of and commitment to Gaelic games, and in particular hurling.

“I would like to extend my thanks to all of the team at Bord Gáis Energy for their continued support and partnership.”

2020 marks the fourth year of Bord Gáis Energy’s sponsorship of the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, which will now continue for a further two years to 2022. Bord Gáis Energy is also title sponsor of the U-20 GAA Hurling All-Ireland Championship and is the sponsor of the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tour Series of Croke Park.
