How do I cancel my account during the cooling‑off period?

You can cancel your contract within 14 days of the contract start date, if you signed up on our website or over the phone. If you signed up with one of our doorstep sales agents, you’ve 30 days to cancel. 

If you signed up to a gas, electricity or dual fuel with us and now wish to cancel, please follow these steps:

I signed up within the last 14 days (or 30 days if you signed up via a doorstep sales agent) 

1. Please complete our Cancellation Form online. Alternatively, you can download the form and post to Customer Service, Bord Gáis Energy, PO Box 10943, Dublin 2.  

2. You can also get in touch with us by submitting a query to request that your account be closed. 

I signed up more than 14 days ago (or 30 days if you signed up via a doorstep sales agent) 

1. You'll need to contact us directly to request that your account be closed. In this instance, a fee may apply, as this is outside the cooling-off period. 

Please note: 

You have the option to postpone your switch to us until after the cooling-off period. This means that we’ll wait until after the 14 day (or 30 day if you sign up with a doorstep sales agent) cooling-off period is up, to start the process of switching your supply to Bord Gáis Energy. If you wish to do this, please select this option at sign up.
