How do I time-stamp a meter read photo?

Sometimes our customer care team may ask you to send a time‑stamped photo of your meter read, so we can confirm the reading is correct.

What to include in your photo

Make sure all three are easy to see:

• Your meter reading
• Your meter’s serial number
• Proof of the date, like a newspaper or a receipt with the date printed

For gas meters, you can also hold up a phone or tablet that shows today’s date.

Please note

• The time stamp can’t be digital.
• Hold your proof of date in front of the meter without covering the reading or serial number. Everything must be clear and easy to read.
• Gas Networks Ireland and ESB Networks are responsible for verifying submitted customer reads, including photos of reads.
