How do price alerts work?

Price alerts let you know when tomorrow’s electricity prices are due to go above the level you choose.

Price alerts are available to customers on the Smart Dynamic tariff. They let you know when tomorrow’s electricity prices are due to go above the level you choose, so you can plan when to use electricity and avoid higher‑priced periods.

You set up a price alert when you sign up to the Smart Dynamic plan online.

Here's how it works:

  • When you sign up, choose an alert amount between €0.01/kWh and €0.75/kWh.
  • Our recommended default alert is €0.32/kWh. If you choose the default, we’ll manage it for you. We review and recalculate this level regularly to reflect movements in wholesale electricity markets. If the default level changes, we’ll automatically move you to the new amount.
  • If you set your own alert amount, you’re choosing to manage it yourself. We won’t change this level for you, so you can update it at any time if your needs change.
  • The higher the alert amount, the fewer alerts you’ll receive.
  • If you set an alert above the current price cap of €0.50/kWh, you won’t receive any alerts.
