Suspicious or fraudulent SMS text messages
Beware of fraudulent messages claiming to be from Bord Gáis Energy.
We're aware of fraudulent messages that have been circulating via SMS and WhatsApp , which may look like they have been sent by Bord Gáis Energy. These are usually around payment requests.
We take the security and privacy of your information seriously and advise you not to respond to any suspicious messages or click on any links contained in the message.
When Bord Gáis Energy will text you
We send texts at key moments to help you stay on top of your account.
Billing messages
We’ll text you when something needs your attention, like a bill due, a failed direct debit, credit on a closed account, an undelivered bill or a change to your Level Pay amount.
These messages will ask you to pay now, check your bill or contact us.
Before you sign in or make a payment, check that the web address starts with https://www.bordgaisenergy.ie/
Other messages
You might also get reminders about appointments, contract renewals, price updates or support services. Smart Pay As You Go customers will receive regular balance texts and, in some cases, disconnection warnings.
