What happens after I sign up to a smart plan?

We'll send you an order confirmation by email or post which will confirm what you've ordered and tell you what the next steps are. Once your order has been processed and your smart account has been created successfully, we'll send you a welcome communication to notify you. 

If you're a new customer signing up one of our smart plans, this process can take up to 14 days. If you're an existing customer switching to a smart plan, this can take up to 1 working day, depending on your meter communications. 

Once you're all set up, you'll be able to see detailed usage information on your online account

Please note that if you're an existing Bord Gáis Energy customer and move to a smart plan, it’s not possible to revert back to a non-smart plan/old meter type. This is due to industry rules for smart metering.
