Bord Gáis Energy to invest €24m in new HomeCare business
- Company to recruit 38 staff and contractors nationwide to support business growth
- New offering will include oil boiler servicing and a suite of Hive products
Bord Gáis Energy has announced the relaunch of its residential energy services business, renamed as HomeCare, which the company will invest €24m in over the next three years.
From November 2016, the Bord Gáis Energy boiler services business will be re-positioned as ‘HomeCare’, providing a range of heating and energy services in the home.
To support business expansion, Bord Gáis Energy will recruit 22 full time Service Engineers, 14 of which will be appointed over the next 12 months. The company will also take on an additional 16 contract Service Engineers, creating 38 new jobs in total. This is the first time Bord Gáis Energy has recruited full time Service Engineers since 1985.
With HomeCare, Bord Gáis Energy offers a more expansive range of services including Gas Boiler Service & Repair; Oil Boiler Service & Repair; Carbon Monoxide Alarm Installations and Hive Active Heating smart heating controls.
Hive Active Heating allows total control of home heating and hot water from a smartphone, laptop or tablet. This gives users control over their energy whether they are at home, work or on the go and can help customers save you up to €120 per year on their energy bills. In 2017, Bord Gáis Energy will introduce a range of additional Hive products for householders such as smart plugs, smart lights and motion and contact sensors.

We’re now providing the same service for oil boilers, allowing us to reach customers outside of the gas network.’

Oil boiler servicing is currently available for householders in Dublin and the surrounding areas, as well as Cork and Tipperary. Oil boiler servicing and repair will be rolled out nationwide over the next 12 months.
