Ger Cunningham and Joe Canning announced as judges for Bord Gáis Energy U-20 Player of the Year Award

Down will play Kerry in the ‘B’ Championship decider

The 2019 Bord Gáis Energy GAA Hurling U-20 All-Ireland Championship has reached its concluding stages with just three games remaining until we know who the inaugural winners of the competition since its regrade from U-21 level are known.

Leinster champions Kilkenny take on Munster runners-up Cork while Tipperary, who recently added Munster honours at U-20 level to last year’s U-21 All-Ireland success, face beaten Leinster finalists Wexford.

Kilkenny meet Cork at O’Moore Park, Portlaoise on Saturday, August 3rd with a 2pm throw-in time. Tipperary versus Wexford will be played at 1.45pm on Sunday, August 4th at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny. Both games will be shown live on TG4.

Kilkenny’s Adrian Mullen, Cork’s Brian Turnbull, Tipperary’s Paddy Cadell and Wexford’s Charlie McGuickan were in Dublin today to look ahead to the semi-finals. They were joined by Kerry’s Adam O’Sullivan and Down’s Ruairí McCrickard. Kerry and Down meet in the ‘B’ Championship final which will be played as a curtain raiser to the Meath v Kerry Super 8s senior football game in Navan on Saturday, August 3rd (3.45pm).

Also in attendance at today’s preview event were long-term Bord Gáis Energy Ambassadors Ger Cunningham and Joe Canning. Joe and Ger were on hand to announce they will act as judges to select the Bord Gáis Energy U-20 Player of the Year and ‘B’ Player of the Year, which will be selected after the All-Ireland final on August 24th. Tipperary’s Ger Brown won the Player of the Year award in the final year at the U21 grade in 2018, while Kerry’s Shane Conway scooped the ‘B’ Player of the Year award last year.
