Bord Gáis Energy Announces Mid-Year Financial Results 2026

^{Delivery of Strong Performance While Continuing to Invest in Accelerating Ireland’s Energy Future and Customer-Focused Growth.}

23rd July 2026: Bord Gáis Energy, part of Centrica plc, today reported a solid performance for the first half of 2026, with EBITDA of €50M marginally up relative to same period last year (H1 2025: €49M), reflecting disciplined delivery across its retail, optimisation and infrastructure portfolio in challenging market conditions.

The business continues to invest at scale and play a key role in supporting Ireland’s energy system, fostering a more secure, resilient and lower-carbon future to meet Ireland’s growing energy needs. Bord Gáis Energy now has approximately 1GW of energy generation in operation and development, with key flexible generation assets in Athlone and Dublin progressing towards commissioning later this year, and a third in East Galway in planning.

In March, a new Centrica Power Global Control Centre was opened in Athlone which oversees assets across Europe including the UK, Belgium and Sweden, including flexible thermal power generation, battery energy storage and solar.

Progress against its net zero strategy continues, with the business further expanding its portfolio of low-carbon energy solutions and reinforcing its position as a leading offtaker of renewable power through long-term power purchase agreements. Following the purchase and successful integration of solar company Swyft Energy, the business delivered approximately 1,000 installations, up 21% year on year, taking advantage of the huge demand for solar. Of this, almost 900 installs in year were to support our residential customers reduce energy costs and emissions.

In a highly competitive market, Bord Gáis Energy continues to maintain good customer engagement and retention, underpinned by ongoing investment in service and support.

Supporting customers remains a core priority, particularly in the context of ongoing cost-of-living pressures and energy affordability. The company continues to work with partners including MABS and Focus Ireland through its Energy Support Fund, providing practical assistance to customers experiencing financial difficulty, to the value of €7.9m since it was established in April 2022.
