How do I close my account if I am switching supplier?
If you're moving from Bord Gáis Energy to a different supplier, you don't need to contact us.
If you're moving from Bord Gáis Energy to a different supplier, you don't need to contact us. Just sign up with a new supplier, and they’ll handle the switch.
Switching takes up to 14 days, and your supply won’t be interrupted. Your Bord Gáis Energy account closes automatically after switching.
Important points to note:
- If you leave before your contract ends, a €50 early exit fee applies. How can I view my contract end date?
- You’ll get your final bill within 14 days. Provide a meter reading to your new supplier to ensure accurate billing. If your account is in credit, see How can I get a refund if my account is in credit?
- If you require copies of your recent bills, please download these from your online account before closing your Bord Gáis Energy account, as they may not be available after you close your account. Due to data protection laws, we only retain personal information for as long as you have an account with us.
